Stephanie Raby

Over the last five years, Stephanie has worked as a social worker at several public and private organizations in Montreal, Canada. She spent a number of years at the Montreal General Hospital, first working with HIV+ and AIDS patients and their families, and later doing crisis intervention on the trauma ward. During that time, Stephanie completed the Graduate Certificate in Loss and Bereavement at McGill University. She also co-facilitated bereavement support groups at the McGill Center for Loss and Bereavement, including one group specifically for young adults. Stephanie has presented at conferences and has been a guest lecturer at the McGill University School of Social Work.

Stephanie currently works at Jewish Family Services in Montreal, where she specializes in working with adolescents and families. She is also a part of their bereavement support team, which is called upon to respond to issues of loss both in the Montreal community and elsewhere, such as during the aftermath of September 11th.

Researched "The Impact of Client Death on Mental Health Professionals". Currently being developed into a workshop.

  • Co-facilitator of bereavement support group for young adults, McGill Center for Loss and Bereavement.
  • Guest lecturer at McGill University School of Social Work for both B.S.W. and M.S.W. classes on "AIDS Bereavement".

1999

  • Presenter at AIDS Impact Conference in Ottawa, Ontario
  • Presenter at AIDS Conference in Victoria, B.C.

  • President of PAFS (Prevention Action Femmes Sida), a community organization to plan workshops for HIV+ women.
